This was my first attempt at taking footage and putting together a full music video. I had full creative control over the pace and theme of the video, using various transitions and masking techniques to ensure a smooth flow with the audio. I also ensured the colour grading was consistent throughout the video.
Taking some footage taken by another videographer, MadViper, I wanted to try a few different techniques while also working on my Colour Grading and Masking skills. I chose a piece of music that I felt would work well with the drone footage and synced the transitions and cuts with the music producing a smooth flowing video adding subtle audio clips to add more depth to the edit.
Having taken raw rushes from a video shoot I wanted to try a couple of transitions using masking. I chose a few seletcs that I felt worked well with what I wanted to do, including masking a gap in one select to zoom into and transition into the next, also creating a cut out transition.
With this clip, I wanted to work on combining a few selects with different transitions including adding a mask to preview the next scene making use of the objects within the current select.
This edit was experimenting with matching clips to the selected audio. This involved finding selects that fit with each lyric and ensuring that each cut happened on beat.
The inspiration for this edit was Daily Duppy videos by GRM Daily. Using After effects, I added text and graphics on screen displaying the lyrics to the chosen freestyle. This involved selecting the right images and text effects for each point in the video.
